Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale

Summary

A period drama film praised for its acting and writing. Though Jeremy Irons once derisively referred to Downton Abbey as the 'Ford Fiesta' of period estate dramas because he thought it a knock-off of his own acclaimed "Brideshead Revisited," really where else can one see big-screen depictions of bygone Convent Garden shopping trips, Ascot races, cricket matches on sheep-filled fields, beautiful dinner parties and exquisite libraries in a world filled with "Ice-Road Truckers" and "Real Housewives of Akron?" This time as 1930 dawns Lady Mary Talbot finds herself in a divorce scandal that shakes her standing in the hierarchy reminiscent of Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII later in the decade, and costly renovations to the estate put Lord Grantham in a bind similar to George "You bet I'll do the Anthology!" Harrison's money problems later in the century with Friar Park.
